Wilderness Survival Skills

This half day course is ideal for groups who’d like to experience survival training but don’t want to go full on for a day or camp out overnight. You’ll love every moment and pick up essential skills at the same time!
We’ll take you through some of the most fundamental survival skills. You’ll learn about the principles of survival, so you’ll be able to fully understand the reasoning behind why we do what we do.
The technical aspects of the various skills we cover is low and there’s a minimum of walking and physical exertion, making it suitable for ages 7 and upwards, although all children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
We’ll teach you how to prepare for an outdoor trip and what equipment you should take, including survival kit, emergency shelter, etc. We’ll also cover what to do if you find yourself stranded in the wilderness.
Your itinerary for the half day wilderness survival course is as follows:
- Introduction – survival priorities, discussion on the use of your survival kit.
- Protection – how to create shelters from both man-made and natural resources, as well as different ways of starting fires.
- Location – Signalling for help using a range of equipment including whistles, mobiles, flashlights, etc.
- Acquisition – How to source water and make it safe to drink, as well as food preparation, which may even include toasting a marshmallow or two!
