Kippure Estate – the ideal base for your An Gaisce
With 240 acres of varied landscape, set in the midst of the Wicklow Mountains National Park and an Adventure Centre with an excellent reputation, you won’t find a better venue for your An Gaisce awards requirements.

- Known as “the wilder part of Wicklow” the estate is in an area of outstanding natural beauty: situated along the Sally Gap road, bordering the Wicklow mountains national park, on the river Liffey and a stone’s throw away from the Blessington Lakes.

Standard Package includes:
- An instructor who will come to your school and help organise your Gaisce trip.
- Hiking in the wild Wicklow mountains between 25 – 50km over 1.5 – 3 days (depending on award level).
- Self-catering group accommodation (full board options also available)
- Onsite instructor available overnight in case of emergencies.
- Highly experienced and suitably qualified outdoor leaders (Ratio 1: 12).
Orienteering Package includes:
- An instructor who will come to your school and help organise your Gaisce trip.
- Hiking in the wild Wicklow mountains between 25 – 50km, over 1 – 2 days (depending on award level).
- Half-day orienteering session including map reading and compass work.
- Self-catering group accommodation (full board options also available)
- Onsite instructor available overnight in case of emergencies.
- Highly experienced and suitably qualified outdoor leaders (Ratio 1: 12).
Ropes package includes:
- An instructor who will come to your school and help organise your Gaisce trip.
- Hiking in the wild Wicklow mountains between 25 – 50km, over 1 – 2 days (depending on award level).
- Half-day day orienteering session including map reading and compass work.
- Half-day high ropes challenges.
- Self-catering group accommodation (full board options also available)
- Onsite instructor available overnight in case of emergencies.
- Highly experienced and suitably qualified outdoor leaders (Ratio 1: 12).

An area rich in history
Make your Gaisce Award adventure even more rewarding by incorporating a trail of historical landmarks, all of which can be found on or near our estate. Some of the sites you can explore include:
- Stone age Passage graves (Megalithic Tombs) dating from about 3000 BC on three nearby mountain peaks (Seefin, Seefingan and Seehan).
- Ruins of old hut sites and the remains of a limekiln.
- A sixth century queran stone, which was used for grinding corn.
- A large variety of trees growing in a circle, described as a nursery in 19th century documents.
- The picturesque Coronation Plantation, which was planted in 1831 to celebrate the crowning of William IV as King of England.
